Introduction to Our Publications
Our first publication in 1991 came about following the success of our photographic exhibition at King Harold School which formed part of the Essex Heritage Year celebrations in 1989. We had so many requests for copies of old photographs that the publication of a book seemed an obvious next step.

It is now nearly 20 years after our first exhibition, and with five books ‘under our belt’ and more in the pipeline we are excited at the opportunities an ‘online presence’ offers. Who knows where this venture will lead.
Reflections of the Past

157 black and white photographs.

This was our first published book. Compiled by Raymond Sears and Jonathan Foster, it flew off the shelves as soon as it was published and went to reprint within months of publication. It has subsequently been reprinted and continues to be a popular publication. It was published in time for our second exhibition at King Harold School which coincided with the Essex Heritage Year celebrations.

It has nine sections; Around the Town, Commerce and Industry, Some of the Pubs, Transport, Emergency Services, Wartime, Local People, At Play and Leisure, Royal Gunpowder Factory.

Future Publications
As part of the 'Reflections of the Past' series, we plan to release our next book in 2012.

This book, originally planned for 2009 will now be published in 2012, and will chart the history of King Harold School.

The school came into being in 1952 on the Quaker Lane / Milton Road site. Past pupils, Parents, Staff and Friends of the school are invited to help us put this book together by dating and commenting on the school photographs within the Gallery section of this site, or by sharing with us some of your memories of the school.

Should you have any old photographs or memorabilia that you are prepared to share with us. Please contact us through this site's e-mail address.
