Joyce House

Rear view of Joyce House, Farm Hill Road. Built by the Joyce family who had an ammunition factory next to the house. The house was demolished in the 1960's and Joyce Court, a small residential estate was built on the site. This picture c1930. 'We used to go to Garden Parties at Joyce House when I was a child, the only other memory I have of it was the apple tree blossoms in the spring that hung over the wall and sent blossom confetti onto the dusty pavement of Farmhill Road'.

Garden Parties

I remember going to the garden parties there. We lived just over the road at the time in 2 Farm Hill Road, now No 3 I believe. I recall boat trips in a small rowing boat on the lake in the grounds that had two? small islands in it.
